Q. back in the 1980s you could go fed ex dhl UPS and Other freight airlines.. can the public still get these tight discounted fares?
Asked by Partygal - Mon Jun 16 11:10:32 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I know that UPS had a passenger operation for awhile, but it was abandoned a long time ago. They tried using one plane for both passengers and freight, but found that they didn't have enough time left over to service the aircraft. I have never heard of DHL doing this. So, no, that's no longer available.

Q. I am going to a party Saturday night and I need ideas for my outfit. The theme is 1980s and I am going as an "aerobics instructor." (Think Jane Fonda!) If you have any ideas, please answer!!! Thanks! (My ideas are: 1. Leotard 2. Socks & tennies 3. Tights 4. Headband)

A. Oooo thats gonna be so hott!! Wear a brightly colored leotard over some bright tights or leggings with legwarmers and keds or some other white tennis shoe. And wear the sweatband around your head with a high side ponytail with a big scrunchie. You could also wear a loose t-shirt over it.

What kind of decor did college kids have in the 1980s?
Q. Hi! I'm writing a short story set in late 1980s, and I have a scene set in a college party pad. I assume that college residences were, generally, as sparsely decorated back then as they are today. If I was setting this story in current time, the apartment would have some futons, a big TV, maybe a Che Guevara poster, empty vodka bottles lined up on the counter, etc. I'm not trying to stereotype college kids (I am one); I just want to flesh out this guy's place. Thanks!

A. Well, there were a lot of trends in 80s as it had been an Era dedicated to Rock and pop. But everyone had a different taste. You can find a little about the kind of decor they used in some old books. Try some books. I know James Hadley was a damn writer but I don't know any of his book where he wrote about a college party. Oh, Yeah.. You know that Movie, When Harry Met Sally? That too explains a little about your issue. But for the practical explanation, you will need to enter this site. In my opinion, 80 used Retro Home Decor. See it yourself

How did girls dress up in the 1980s?
Q. It's Decade Day at school tomorrow and I'm planning on doing the 1980s since the 1990s seem pretty recentish. So I'm wondering how exactly did girls dress up in the '80s? I'm kinda going for the preppy look with the side-ponytail and yeah. I can't go out to the store to buy stuff (it'd be pointless anyway) so is there also a way to look like an '80s girl without going out to buy the necessary... items?

What are some good pre-1980s Canon 35mm camera models to buy used?
Q. As in before Canon changed to the EF auto focus lens mount, so pre-1980s. I noticed all the manual focus FD lenses are dirt cheap used. So what's a good camera to buy used to use with them? I had a EOS Rebel X, but it along with all my lenses was stolen. So I'm starting from scratch.

What was college orientation like in the 1980s?
Q. I'm writing a story that takes place in the 1980s, and one of the characters is going to college. I was wondering if they had orientation programs then like they do now, with icebreaker activities, information sessions about the college, etc. If you have any personal stories, that would be great.
Asked by Kate - Wed Mar 25 22:57:39 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I went to UofSC in 1981. There was no orientation - at least not one I knew about. There was nothing. I registered for classes, got a schedule, and went to class. If you were lucky, an upperclassman or two would help you out. If you were unlucky, they'd trip you up for fun. Watch the beginning of Revenge of the Nerds (1st one) - that was in about the period. You showed up and figured it out - fast. Note: I was one of the nerds. Computer using nerd in '81 - and in the band.

What are the names of these 2 1980s dance tunes?
Q. These are songs that I heard on a CD that the tutor had at college in a performing arts lesson. The first one goes something like this: We are young. Heartache to heartache. We stand tall. Don't know it then. the singer is a female singer. The second one goes something like this: Rocking roll and rue, Rocking roll and rue and then it keeps going on like that and the singer for this song is a male singer. Does anyone know what these songs are from 1980s?

A. Anyone who sought safe refuge in a fallout shelter would live, everyone else would die. I doubt any survivors would still hold allegiance to their nations, because there would be no nations, no taxes and no government. People would still be in their fallout shelters living a dreadful existence just trying to hang in there.

Has the Edmonton Oilers dynasty of the 1980s been a little overrated over time?
Q. Back in the day, Edmonton was given the deserved plaudits for being the premier offensive juggernaut in the NHL. Featuring the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, Glenn Anderson Paul Coffey, and Grant Fuhr, the Oilers made the rest of the NHL look silly in the mid 1980s. However, over two decades after the fact, have we as hockey fans overrated the dynasty? In other words, with the way the league and subsequent teams have been structured since the end of the dynasty, do we look at the 1980s Oilers with rose-tinted glasses? Let the controversey begin...
Asked by Snoop - Mon Aug 20 20:18:36 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Absolutely not. Gretzky speaks for himself. I believe Jari Kurri and Glenn Anderson are two of the most under rated players in recent NHL history. Grant Fuhr will not go down as one of the top 10 goaltenders of all time, however, he will go down as one of the top 10 clutch goaltenders of all time. You mentioned 5 of the greatest players in the history of the game, not just the Oilers, and you failed to mention Mark Messier. "Like I've Been" mentioned his qualifications for the defense of a dynasty. Aside from Paul Coffey, they also featured Lee Fogolin, Randy Gregg, Kevin Lowe and others on defense. While they were not the greatest of all time, they were one of, if not the deepest of their time. Their role players included Dave… [cont.]
