Any good middle eastern and north african dance styles?
Q. I'm a male and I am fascinated with the culture of the middle east and north africa. Are there any good dance styles from that region that are somewhat masculine and that you could perform by yourself in a resturaunt or club? We all know of belly dancing and I read somewhere that many men in those regions (especially Turkey) still belly dance. The problem is my mom doesn't want me to be belly dancing so is there any style that is just as amazing and dazzling as belly dancing but performed by men. Also, if you have any links to sites that have information or show how to perform the dance style, please post them. Thank y'all so much. BTW, I'm already aware of the stick dance and whirling dervishes and those aren't as fun to watch as a belly… [cont.]

A. Hmm... I'd recommend looking for folk dance classes (egyptian, lebanese, greek, etc.). Some of what you'll learn will have a lot in common with the more formalized oriental ("belly") dance you're not allowed to take. Universities often have folk dance clubs. Debke is a very masculine dance (although women do it too sometimes), which uses a lot of stomping. Really dramatic. I'm sorry your mom won't let you bellydance. If she does change her mind, make sure that you find a teacher who has taught men before. Men have a higher center of gravity than women, and so you may need different posture guidance than female students, to avoid hurting your back. Good luck!

Is it best for clubs to have players with both Latin American and European playing styles? and also African?
Q. Are multifaceted teams most successful in football today? For example, Clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter, Manchester United have European, Latin American and also African players. This diversity of playing styles is giving these clubs an edge over teams with only one dimentional playing style? What do you think? Does this factor count in football today? If is does then how much?

A. General I would say yes. The dominant styles of football in the world has different advantages. Many Asian players bring more energy and enthusiasm, the African speed and athleticism, south American great ball control and vision and the European more strategic and united in team work. These are big generalizations, but there does seem to be differences in playing style in different continents. One advantage of having people from different backgrounds play is that they can learn from each-other, you will have a wide range of skills available, the difference of cultures means you have to put in a greater effort for unity which can make the team stronger, and if you have the money you can pick the best players from the different regions. I have shot African hair. What styles can I put it into after washing it that looks professional and classy?
Q. I don't know how to style my natural, African, hair. I get it done at the salon every now and then, but when I decide to wash it, it goes back to natural and it's basically a scraggly afro after being washed. I don't want to wear afros, because I just don't like them. So how do I style it when it's natural? Sometimes putting it in ponytails hurts really bad.
Asked by lost.in.love - Fri Apr 27 23:10:06 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Magazines such as Hype Hair are made specifically for all types of black hair. Maybe, you should their and try some of the styles that stand out to you. And the best part is that they even tell you step by step instructions on how you can do the styles yourself and give you a recommendation on what products to use to help maintain the style. But if you're looking for something quick and easy try twists. It's something that you can do yourself and will last a long time with natural hair.

A. okay well I like the wavy look its called a braidout after your wash and condition your hair apply a cream leave in (i like biologe or granier) to your whole head then part you hair in 4 sections (upper left and lower left; upper right and lower right) and put 4 big braids (yes it may look stupid) let it completly dry (normally I'd sleep like that and take it out in the morning) and unbraid your hair and mess it up a little and you'll have beachy waves

A. I have seen a lot of girls around my campus who fit your discription with adorable headbands. Or, sometimes I see girls who scrunch their hair (put gel in their har when damp, then scrunch/curl hair with their hands). It looks really casual and pretty, especially in the summer time with a cute dress. :)

Can an african american male pull off asian hair styles?
Q. I'm a black male and my hair is too thick to make straight without damaging my head. I really like the asian hair styles that i've seen. i've tried on a few wigs and i look... different. All i really wanna know is if you saw a black male with one of those trendy asian hair styles, would you think it was strange? I don't mind looking different but i don't want ppl to point and laugh me either. I'm also worried that if i start wearing wigs people will see me as... feminine. What do you think?

Need ideas & advice on African Hair styles & care?
Q. My daughter is from Ethiopia, with softish, fine, reasonably tight curls. I would love for anyone to provide info on any free websites with instructions or own ideas on styles that would suit. I am only a beginner at braids, but can do basic cornrows. Would like to keep her hair looking great with products that are as natural as possible. Have been using olive oil and Dove brand shampoo and conditioner. Any advice will be most appreciated. BTW My daughter is only 3 1/2 years at the moment. Not sure if this helps. Will her hair change texture as she gets older - become more coarse or stay the same? She is adopted, so this is a bit new for me.
