Q. I think the Earth is kept away from the say because of the gravitational pull of other planets. But, how can the other planet pull Earth if most of the time, they are not aligned with Earth. How can other planet exert the pulling force away from the sun? Or if I am wrong, does the sun have enough gravity to pull the Earth towards itself? And why do planets revolve around the sun? And why don't they collide?

A. The earth is always falling into the sun, but it's also always moving forward. And it moves forward so fast that by the time it falls to the sun, the sun isn't under it anymore. It's a difficult thing to describe, but a lot easier when you can see it. Try this: This is for a ball orbiting earth, but ALL orbits, including earth orbiting the sun, work the same way.
